New Facilities for Wyee Rural Fire Station

In Building, Commercial Construction, Public Sector Construction

Nulex Construction has recently completed another Public Works project for Wyee Rural Fire Station. Our scope was to design and construct their brand new facilities. The Rural Fire team wanted to completely renew the whole site as it was not suiting their current requirements.

The scope was to build a shed and internally fit out a truck parking bay as well as an office and function area. The shed walls and roof are Colorbond Corrugate 0.47 and the gutters are Colorbond Quad. It has a gable roof as well as downpipes, flashings and roller door.

The floorplan of the fire station is well thought out to make sure to allow for easy access in case of emergency. Behind the roller doors is the truck parking area and as you move further into the station you will come across the bathroom and shower facilities. There is an office space created as well as a separate storage area which is used to store all the fire safety gear. At the very rear of the station is the multi-function area, this has a kitchenette and is used for RFS staff and volunteers to rest in between shifts.

In addition to building the shed we also completed a comprehensive upgrade of the entire site. This included installing fencing around the perimeter of the fire station and laying a new driveway from the road all the way into the station. We installed outdoor speakers and leveled the gardens out for new turf and mulch around the shed.

The Wyee RFS volunteers have involved their local community in fundraising initiatives to help support the upgrade of the new fire station. These new facilities will help keep the local community and surrounding areas safe during the busy fire season.

Have a look at the photos below to see the new shed!
